ComparisonGarry's Mod
Mizan vs Chronon Labs
How Mizan and Chronon Labs, two server-side anti-cheats for Garry's Mod, detect cheats, what each one caught in our tests, and which fits your server.

Mizan and Chronon Labs are both server-side anti-cheats for Garry's Mod. Neither asks players to install anything, both judge cheats by how a player behaves rather than by finding the cheat's files, and both send the heavy work to their own servers instead of your game server. They differ in how they decide, how much they cover, and how you get them.
This page is written by Mizan, so read it with that in mind. Every fact about Chronon comes from its own pages, linked at the end, and every test result is our own. If something here is wrong or out of date, email contact@mizan.ac and we will correct it.
How each one decides
Chronon sends every player event through one model. In its own words, the model "reads 250 signals and returns a confidence score from 0 to 100%": 182 general features and 68 tick-based sequence parameters for each event. Because there is one model, there are no separate checks to tune, only a sensitivity per gamemode. Its Garry's Mod page says it picks the model for your gamemode and tickrate; the addon itself names no model. It reports your gamemode and turns every server's ticks into 22 a second before sending them.
Mizan runs AI models beside algorithmic detectors. The models score each fight by how the view moves against its target before, during and after the shot; the detectors test what a hand on a mouse can and can't do, and whether the numbers the game sends add up. A community's steps act only on a certified case. Mizan certifies one when two separate kinds of measurement agree and one is a model. An exact check of the game's own numbers can certify one alone. Statistics alone only ask staff to look, unless a community sets its own count for those checks. Each detector's alarm line is a setting we chose, and it isn't a false flag rate. Headshot rates and kill counts are never an input, because good players have high ones too.
The trade-off: one model is simple to run and to tune. Two kinds of evidence that must agree is slower to certify a case. We can't yet show how often it's wrong: too few real players have been tested to publish a rate.
What each one covers
Chronon's Garry's Mod page names three kinds of cheat: aimbots ("snapping, locking and assisted aim on any weapon"), triggerbots, and recoil and spread scripts. Its features page adds wall-hack behaviour: "pre-aiming at and tracking targets the player has no line of sight to".
Mizan names 20 cheat features in three groups on its anti-cheat page: aim, sight and shooting, movement and view, and network and written input. That includes cheats a behaviour model of aim alone doesn't see, such as fake lag, sequence freezing, fake duck and air stuck. Nine more are being tested and don't flag players yet, among them fake latency, warp and network exploits that ask an addon for free money or items.
For wallhacks the two take different routes. Chronon looks for the behaviour a wallhack causes. Mizan's fog of war stops your server sending a player the positions of enemies they have no way to see, so an ESP has nothing to draw, the way VALORANT and Rust do it. Anyone you could already see or hear is still sent, so a wallhack can still show those.

What we saw in our tests
We have tested Chronon's own addon on our Garry's Mod test server since January 2026. Over that time we found several ways past its detection and reported them to Chronon Labs. As of our latest test, we have seen no sign that any of them has been fixed. We don't publish them here: servers running Chronon would be the ones exposed.
Our latest run, on 2 November 2026, was against three cheats: SecretService.club, benzoylmethylecgonine and mayrr. Each one was caught on some of its rage features and settings, and passed with no flags at all on others. In our runs Chronon did not flag triggerbot, bunny hop, anti-aim, rapid fire or wallhack use, and it flagged none of the network and timing cheats in the table above.
What Chronon's addon does on your server
Chronon's addon is plain Lua with no DRM, and Chronon says you can read every line. We did, in the copy downloaded on 28 October 2026. These are the parts a server owner should know about, each with the file it is in:
- It runs commands sent from Chronon's API. Every 30 seconds it asks Chronon's API for commands and runs up to 10 of them in your server's console, with no list of the commands it allows (
administration/taskengine.lua). A console command can belua_run, so Chronon's API, or anyone who gets into it, can run any code on your server. - It changes how your whole server collects memory. It sets Lua's garbage collector to start again after 10% growth instead of Lua's default of 100%, for every addon on the server, not only its own (
runtime/memorymanager.lua). - It wraps every hook on your server. With its damage diagnostics on, which they are by default, it replaces
hook.Call, so every hook any addon fires runs through its wrapper first (administration/damagediagnostics.lua). - Its API address is hidden in the source. The address is XOR-encoded rather than written out (
administration/gateawayprocessor.lua); it decodes to Chronon's API host. - What it sends. For each fight: the shooter's position, view angles and key presses on every tick, and the position, movement and SteamID64 of the player they shoot at. With every batch, your server's address and name. We found no chat, passwords or player IP addresses in what it sends.
Where Chronon is ahead
- You can buy it today. Chronon is €25 per server a month, with a trial on request. Mizan is in early access and opening to Garry's Mod communities one at a time.
- No binary module. Hosts that don't allow binary modules can still run it. Its per-player work runs in Lua on your server's main thread; Mizan's module gathers what it needs in compiled code.
Where Mizan is ahead
- Coverage. Movement, network and timing cheats, not only aim. Exploits and server crashers are being tested.
- Fog of war. Wallhacks and ESP are left with nothing to draw for players behind walls, instead of being judged by how the cheater aims.
- A published evidence rule. Two separate kinds of measurement must agree before a case is certified, unless an exact check fails. The anti-cheat page sets out the rule. The false flags we've found are listed, including those that aren't fixed.
- Bans beyond your server. Mizan reads hundreds of public ban lists, so a player banned on other communities' servers is known when they join. Chronon's network bans carry a ban across the servers you protect with it.
- Price. Free while Mizan is in early access.
Both give you 3D replays of each detection, a web dashboard, Discord alerts, bans through your admin mod, and staff review before anyone is banned.
Which one fits your server
Choose Chronon if you need an anti-cheat installed this week or your host doesn't allow binary modules, and you're comfortable with its API being able to run console commands on your server.
Choose Mizan if you want cheats beyond aim covered, wallhacks stopped rather than judged, a published evidence rule, and the public ban lists in the same place, and you can run a native module.
The full comparison puts Mizan and Chronon beside LSAC, SwiftAC and Nova Defender. The best Garry's Mod anti-cheats in 2026 covers every option still sold or maintained, Trinity included.
