# Mizan > Mizan is a ban registry and anti-cheat for game communities. It reads the public ban lists of game servers and shows every ban on one account in one place, each in the list's own words. A ban on Mizan is the claim of the list that made it, not Mizan's. Mizan never says it caught anyone. As of 2026-10-31, Mizan reads Community Ban List (Squad), Chronon Labs, SteamRep (2024 archive), rust-admin.ru shared list, ARK: Survival Ascended official bans (Studio Wildcard) and 563 other lists: 5,056,768 bans, 4,456,143 of them in force, across 21 games. ## Look up a player - Steam: https://mizan.ac/players/steam/{SteamID64}, the 17-digit id that starts 7656119 - Any platform: https://mizan.ac/players/{platform}/{id}, with these platforms: steam, discord, minecraft, fivem, epic, xbox, eos - From anything a player would paste: https://mizan.ac/lookup?q={text} finds the account and opens its page. - As JSON: the page's address plus `.json`, as in https://mizan.ac/players/steam/{SteamID64}.json, or the page's address with `Accept: application/json`. It answers with `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`. - As Markdown: the page's address plus `.md`. - A whole server: https://mizan.ac/lookup/lobby takes a `status` output, SteamIDs or profile links, up to 100 Steam accounts. Another form of the same id answers 308 to the stored one, and an unknown platform or an id no account has answers 404. ## A player's record as JSON Schema 1. A new field can appear without a new schema number; a field that changes meaning or goes away gets one. - `verdict`: the record in one sentence (`text`), and counts of lists, bans and cheating bans, each split into in force and ended. - `steam`: Steam's own record, VAC and game bans, for a Steam account when Steam answered; otherwise null. - `bans`: every ban, with its list (`source`: key, name and kind), its labels, the list's reason in its own words, the game, mode and server it names, and when it began, expires or ended. - `checkedAt`: when this copy was read. A copy can be up to an hour old. - `links`: the page, the JSON, the Markdown and how to dispute a ban. Linked accounts and anything else private are never in it. The page itself also shows linked accounts (each credited to whoever made the link), the profile and name history for Steam, Discord and Minecraft accounts. ## How to word a record Quote the record's verdict (`verdict.text`) as it stands, such as "Banned on 2 lists, both in force", "Past bans on 1 list, none in force" or "No bans found on the 568 lists Mizan reads". Never "this person is a cheater" or "this account is clean". A ban is the claim of the list that made it, and no bans found means none on the lists Mizan reads, nothing more. Only Mizan's own anti-cheat "caught" anyone. ## Who issues a list's bans Each list has a kind, shown beside its bans. It says who issues them, not how much to trust them: - Anti-cheat detection (`anti_cheat`): An anti-cheat's own detections, such as Chronon Labs. - Staff decision (`staff`): One community's moderators decided each ban on its own servers. - Game developer (`platform`): The game's own ban, from its developer, such as Pocketpair's Palworld list or Rust's game bans. - Shared list (`community`): A list several communities or players add to, such as the Community Ban List or a TF2 Bot Detector list. A list with no kind has not been classified yet. The lookup takes: - Steam: a SteamID in any form, a profile link or a custom URL - Discord: a user id, a profile link or a mention - Minecraft: a username, a UUID or a NameMC link - FiveM: a licence - Epic Games: an account id - Xbox: a user id (XUID) - Epic Online Services: a product user id ## What a page's verdict means - Cheating on record: A list Mizan reads banned this account for cheating. - Conduct bans: This account has a conduct ban, in force or from the last year. - Has bans: This account has bans on record, and no list has labelled one as cheating. - Nothing on record: No community on Mizan's lists has banned this account. A Steam account's page also shows Steam's own record: VAC bans, game bans, and community and trade bans. ## MCP server https://mizan.ac/mcp, Streamable HTTP (protocol 2026-07-28, and 2025-era clients). These tools need no sign-in, 20 calls a minute per address: - `lookup_player`: one player's record, the same as the page's .json, from an id, profile link or name. - `check_players`: up to 100 Steam accounts in one call, each with its list bans, cheating bans and Steam's VAC and game bans. Use it instead of a loop of lookups. - `list_sources`: the lists Mizan reads, largest first, filtered by game or name. - `registry_stats`: the registry's size, overall and per game. - `list_my_communities`: the signed-in person's Mizan communities; asks for OAuth sign-in (https://mizan.ac/auth.md). Descriptions: https://mizan.ac/.well-known/mcp-server.json (MCP Registry format) and https://mizan.ac/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json. ## API The REST API at https://api.mizan.ac. Reference: https://mizan.ac/api. OpenAPI: https://api.mizan.ac/v1/openapi.json. No key (600 requests a minute per address): - `GET /v1/public/players/{player}`: one player's public record, every list's bans. - `GET /v1/stats`: the registry's size. `GET /v1/sources`: every list it reads, with each list's kind. - `GET /v1/health`: whether the API and its databases answer. With an approved organization's key in `X-API-Key` (300 requests a minute per organization): - `POST /v1/players/batch`: up to 1,000 players in one request, keyed by each id as sent; every 100 count as one request. - `GET /v1/bans/changes`: every ban created, updated, ended or removed, in order, from a cursor, for keeping your own copy. - `GET /v1/steam/{player}`: Steam's record of one account (VAC, game, community and trade bans). - `GET /v1/players/{player}`: one player with Steam's record. `POST /v1/bans`: add or update your own bans. - `POST /v1/joins`: your servers report joins, and your join policy answers log, flag or refuse. ## Join rules A community's join policy decides what happens when a player joins its servers, by its own rules: cheating bans within a number of days (optionally the same game only), conduct bans, its own bans, and Steam rules on bans, account age, level, badges, friends, banned friends, groups and games. It is not a global score. Join rules are in preview, opening to communities one at a time. ## Pages - [What Mizan returns](https://mizan.ac/capabilities): What a record holds, every way to read it, freshness, limits, and how it differs from Steam-only ban checkers. - [API reference](https://mizan.ac/api): Every route, key and rate limit, with live answers from the public routes. - [Players](https://mizan.ac/players): Every account on the lists, newest ban first. - [Ban lists](https://mizan.ac/communities): Every list Mizan reads, with its bans and how often it is read. - [Games](https://mizan.ac/games): The lists and bans for each game. - [Lobby check](https://mizan.ac/lookup/lobby): Up to 100 Steam accounts at once from a `status` output. - [VAC ban check](https://mizan.ac/vac-ban-check): Steam's VAC, game and community bans beside the lists' bans. - [Rust centralized banning](https://mizan.ac/rust): Refuse players with a cheating ban in force on a Rust server. - [How Mizan works](https://mizan.ac/methodology): How lists are read and how a verdict is reached. - [Changelog](https://mizan.ac/changelog): What changed on the site, newest first. - [Dispute a ban](https://mizan.ac/disputes): A ban is appealed to the community that published it; Mizan fixes its copy when it differs from the list. - [Steam profile userscript](https://mizan.ac/userscripts/mizan.user.js): Shows a profile's Mizan record on steamcommunity.com. - [auth.md](https://mizan.ac/auth.md): How an agent signs a person in to Mizan's MCP server.
